Dr Olawale Suleiman. A rare story of humanity.

Dr. Olawale Sulaiman, a highly skilled neurosurgeon based in Louisiana, made an extraordinary sacrifice by accepting a 25% salary reduction to pursue his mission of providing critical medical care in Nigeria.

This decision allows him to spend 7–12 days each month in his home country, where he addresses the dire healthcare needs of underprivileged communities. Through his RNZ Foundation, co-founded with his wife Patricia.

in 2019, Dr. Sulaiman has performed over 500 free brain and spinal surgeries for patients who could not otherwise afford such complex procedures.

His work focuses on life-altering conditions, such as spinal injuries and brain tumors, offering hope to those with limited access to healthcare.

Beyond surgeries, he has delivered preventive healthcare services to over 5,000 individuals, emphasizing early intervention to reduce the burden of neurological diseases.

Additionally, Dr. Sulaiman is committed to building sustainable healthcare infrastructure in Nigeria by training local doctors in advanced, minimally invasive surgical techniques and working to establish four neuroscience centers across the country.

His efforts, supported by Ochsner Health System in Louisiana, where he serves as chairman of the neurosurgery department, reflect a profound dedication to improving lives.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and having overcome a challenging upbringing, Dr. Sulaiman’s journey from earning a medical degree in Bulgaria to becoming a global healthcare advocate underscores his selfless commitment to giving back.

His work not only transforms individual lives but also sets a powerful example of how compassion and sacrifice can address systemic healthcare disparities.
